6 New Fitness Concepts Across Sydney & Melbourne That’ll Make You Sweat
To say that we’re already spoilt for choice when it comes to fitness classes is an understatement. If you live in (or near) the cities of Sydney or Melbourne, there seems to be a new fitness studio popping up left, right and centre. The beauty of this, is that there’s ample opportunity to find a workout style that best suits you and shake up your usual training routine to a) prevent boredom b) keep your body guessing so you don’t hit that dreaded plateau. Here, we round-up some of the hottest fitness concepts and gym openings that have recently hit our shores. Trust us when we say, they’re worth a visit.
1. Undercard Boxing—Darlinghurst, Sydney
Officially opening its doors on April 12th, The Undercard training model fuses traditional boxing with full-body conditioning for a sweat sesh like no other. The unique method has been designed by Australian boxing authority and personal trainer, Zach Vickers, along with business partner, Keseva Commerford. Vickers is renowned in the Australian fitness industry, having trained the likes of Victoria Secret model, Georgia Fowler, former Miss Universe Australia, Jesinta Franklin and P.E Nation’s, Pip Edwards.
Incorporating boxing, running and lifting, the space includes TechnoGym SkillMill treadmills and a range of free-weights to personalise the level of resistance. Undercard is the newest addition to Darlinghurst’s already thriving fitness precinct, joining 98 Riley Street, Cycology Club, Fitness First Darlinghurst Platinum and Fluid Form Pilates, all in the immediate vicinity.

2. Love Athletica—Malvern East, Melbourne
Hailing from LA, Love Athletica utilises state-of-the-art apparatus which will have you working muscles you didn’t even know you had through a program combining classic Pilates with cardio, strength training and yoga. Love Athletica is perfect for those looking for a low impact, total body workout that challenges both the mind and body and ending with a mindful recovery to calm and restore.

3. Lagree—Double Bay, Sydney
Australia’s first Lagree Fitness studio dedicated to the Lagree Fitness Method has just opened in Sydney. The method is a unique high intensity, low impact full body conditioning workout that combines strength, cardio, core, endurance and flexibility training in a 50-minute session.
The Lagree workout is performed on the patented Megaformer M3X machine developed by LA-based fitness visionary Sebastien Lagree. Lagree is the only studio in Australia to currently offer a workout with the M3X. 4. 12RND—Port Melbourne
Four-time world champion professional boxer Danny Green has been an integral part of developing this unique boxing concept. With over 60 operating locations popping up since 2016, the most recent club to open is 12RND Fitness in Port Melbourne. Workouts are designed to replicate the physical demands of a 12-round championship fight, with 12 x 3 minute rounds and 30 seconds rest in between. Each workout includes both boxing and the strength training required to condition athletes to reach their ‘peak fighting shape’.
5. Rise Nation—South Yarra, Melbourne
Successfully launched in West Hollywood, this total body workout has expanded to studios in Dallas, Cleveland, Miami and now to Australia in Melbourne’s South Yarra. Rise Nation is a 30-minute HIIT workout developed by training and movement expert, Jason Walsh and its point of difference lies in the fact that the program utilises the VersaClimber—a cardio machine that stimulates vertical climbing which you better believe will have you working up a serious sweat.

6. BodyLove Pilates—Woollahra, Sydney
